NLC Tamil Nadu Power Limited (NTPL), Thoothukudi, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), distributed assistive aids and appliances to persons with disabilities in Thoothukudi. The initiative has been undertaken in association with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India.
The beneficiaries were identified and recommended by the District Disabled Rehabilitation and Welfare Office.
NTPL has allocated an amount of ₹50 lakh for the initiative.
Wheelchairs, battery operated motorised tricycles, axillary crutches, hearing aids, smartphones for visually challenged and other assistive aids were distributed to the beneficiaries.
Out of 104 identified beneficiaries, 75 individuals attended the distribution programme held at NTPL township in Thoothukudi.
M. Venkatachalam, director (power), attended the event as chief guest. The programme was presided over by K. Anandaramanujam, CEO, NTPL.
