Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has emphasised the urgent need to restructure college curricula to align with current requirements.

He stated that the higher education system must be strengthened and reoriented to include demand-driven courses, alongside traditional programmes, with updated and relevant content.

During a review meeting held at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of improving the university rankings.

He noted that institutions such as Andhra University and others must strive for better national and global standings. He directed the Higher Education Council to play a more proactive role, with the Education Department taking the lead in driving reforms.

Mr. Naidu called for zero complaints in the mid-day meal scheme and urged the sports authorities to intensify activities to promote fitness and health awareness among the youth.

He directed officials to implement government programmes with clear planning and efficiency to ensure benefits reach people effectively and build public trust.

Road safety

On road safety, the Chief Minister stressed the need for preventive measures rather than relying solely on enforcement. He emphasised public awareness campaigns on the use of helmet and adherence to traffic rules.

Addressing concerns over lightning-related incidents during heavy rains, he directed officials to go beyond mobile alerts and activate field-level staff. He suggested the use of network-based, location-specific alerts to warn people in vulnerable areas.

Reviewing the housing sector, Mr. Naidu instructed officials to accelerate construction activities. In addition to completing TIDCO houses, he directed the completion and distribution of another five lakh houses at the earliest.

He noted that the large-scale housing programme is unprecedented and has received positive feedback from beneficiaries. He also called for expediting the distribution of house sites, citing survey findings that nearly two lakh people are awaiting allotment.

Mr. Naidu emphasised strict monitoring to ensure that no additional charges are levied on the pretext of sand transportation, as sand is being provided free of cost by the government.

‘Aware 2.0’ launched

Later in the day, the Chief Minister launched the ‘Aware 2.0’ mobile application developed by RTGS. Officials from various departments were present at the meeting.
