Passengers on board a Vijayawada-Bhogapuram flight after it was diverted to Nagpur due to bad weather conditions at Bhogapuram airport on Wednesday night.

Airlines cancelled flights to the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram on Thursday (September 24, 2026), a day after bad weather over the north Andhra coast turned four flights away from airports in the Andhra Pradesh.
IndiGo cancelled both legs of its Vijayawada-Bhogapuram service, and Air India Express cancelled both legs of its Hyderabad-Bhogapuram service, according to flight-tracking data.
Passengers on IndiGo’s Delhi-Bhogapuram flight had the longest wait. Unable to land at Bhogapuram on Wednesday, the aircraft was diverted to Bengaluru, and the passengers spent the night there before landing at Bhogapuram at 6.49 a.m. on Thursday.
The weather shut airports further down the coast too.
IndiGo’s Bhogapuram-Vijayawada flight could not land at Vijayawada on Wednesday and was diverted to Hyderabad, and Fly91’s Hyderabad-Rajahmundry flight was diverted to Bengaluru. Air India Express flight from Vijayawada carrying Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu and MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas made two attempts to land at Bhogapuram, according to reports, before it was diverted to Nagpur.
The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal crossed the coast near Kalingapatnam between 11 p.m. on Wednesday and 1 a.m. on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department said. North Andhra remains under an orange alert on Thursday.
