The police are probing the murder of an unidentified man whose body was found stuffed in a gunny bag near a two-wheeler showroom at Indira Nagar in Adyar on Monday.

The police said the deceased, believed to be a migrant worker aged around 40, had suffered injuries, suggesting he was murdered and the body was dumped.

Residents spotted the sack lying on First Avenue and alerted the police. The Adyar police came to the spot and recovered the body. Fingerprint and forensic experts examined the scene and collected evidence.

The body was sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Preliminary inquiries revealed that two persons on a motorcycle dumped the sack around midnight on Sunday.

The police are analysing CCTV footage. They are also checking missing persons records over the past week in a bid to identify the deceased.
