Quick action by a house owner helped two children escape unhurt in a fire mishap at their residence in Belagavi on Saturday.
The fire mishap occurred at Sridevi Joshi’s house in Sahyadri Nagar, where she had rented the first floor to Roopa Nashipudi, who lived there with her two children. On Saturday, Roopa had left home for the temple on account of ‘amavasye’ (New Moon Day) after leaving her two children at home and locking the door from the outside.
After a while, there was a fire in the house, reportedly due to a short circuit. On hearing the cry for help from the frightened children, the house owner, Sridevi, rushed to rescue them and safely evacuated them from the smoke-filled house, sources said.
The Belagavi APMC police have registered a case, and the investigation is on.
