Ahead of the International Fleet Review (IFR–2026), MILAN, and the International City Parade, District Collector M. N. Harendhra Prasad held a review meeting with officials from the Eastern Naval Command (ENC), police and other departments at the Collectorate on Wednesday. He stressed on ensuring fool proof well-coordinated arrangements for the success of events.
The Collector said: “In the view of the President of India, the Union Defence Minister, the State Governor, Chief Minister and other dignitaries visit, along with an anticipated two to three lakh people, security, traffic regulation, infrastructure, and medical services must be put in place in an efficient manner.”
The Collector briefed those present saying that programmes will begin with the arrival of the President on February 17, followed by the Naval Fleet Review on February 18, the MILAN inauguration on the February 19, and the International City Parade on Beach Road on the same day in the evening.
He directed that LED screens, public addressing systems, galleries, barricading and parking facilities be arranged along the City Parade route. Focus must be on medical services, fire safety, drinking water supply, mobile toilets and sanitation measures. He further directed that the Beach Road beautification, decorative lighting and cleanliness works be speeded up.
Mr Harendhira Prasad also said that a control room would function round-the-clock from February 17, and additional control rooms would be set up at venues, if required. He further added that buses should be operated up to Jagadamba Junction and Park Hotel Junction.
During the meeting, the Commissioner of Police, Shankabratha Bagchi said that, in the interest of public safety, CCTV cameras, night-vision equipment and live monitoring through the control room should be ensured. He also informed that in the view of the prestigious events, no-drone and no-kite zones would be strictly enforced.
