The Department of Social Welfare organised a community baby shower at Courtallam near here on Thursday.
District Collector Ranjeet Singh, Tenkasi MP Rani Srikumar and Tenkasi MLA Kalai Kathiravan greeted 200 expectant mothers from Tenkasi and Shencottai taluks with gifts and nutritious food gift hampers.
After the medical screening, they were also advised to take nutritious food and undergo regular health check-up as advised by the doctors during pregnancy and post-delivery.
Mr. Ranjeet Singh said the community baby shower would be organised in all 11 blocks of the district and 100 pregnant women would be selected for this event from each block.
