Dindigul district will be hosting the three-day 40th Tamil Nadu Inter-District Junior Athletic Championship from October 2 to 4. Over 4,000 young athletes from across the State are expected to participate in the event which will be held in Natham.
According to a press release, the championship is being organised by the Dindigul District Athletic Association (DDAA) in association with the Tamil Nadu Athletic Association (TNAA). The three-day championship will bring together young and emerging athletes from across Tamil Nadu, providing them with an opportunity to compete at the State level and showcase their talent.
Athletes representing 38 districts of Tamil Nadu will participate in various track and field events. Competitions will be conducted for both boys and girls in four age categories: Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20.
The championship will provide the young athletes with valuable competitive experience and an opportunity to improve their technical and physical performance. It will also enable coaches and technical officials to identify and observe emerging athletic talent from different districts. The championship assumes added significance as it will serve as a selection trial for the National Junior Meet, the press release said.
Dindigul district had previously hosted the Tamil Nadu Inter-District Athletic Championship In December 2021.
