Nitesh Patel, Regional Commissioner of Mysuru division, advised aspirants preparing for competitive examinations to cultivate learning discipline and engage in continuous, focused study to achieve success.
He was speaking after inaugurating a 50-day training camp for banking and Union government recruitment examinations, organised by the Competitive Examination Training Centre of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) here on December 19. On the occasion, he also released a study book titled Muktabhandara and interacted with candidates.
Mr. Patel said success in competitive examinations becomes meaningful only when it leads to securing a job. While lakhs of candidates apply for recruitment notifications, only a few are finally selected. Many aspirants refrain from appearing for examinations owing to fear, while others apply casually without serious preparation. Only those who prepare sincerely emerge successful and secure a government job, he said.
He advised aspirants to appear confidently for all recruitment examinations conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). Writing more examinations helps build experience and confidence, he added, recalling that he himself had appeared for several smaller examinations while preparing for UPSC.
Referring specifically to banking examinations, Mr. Patel stressed the importance of regularly taking mock tests, which help aspirants manage time effectively and identify mistakes.
He also advised students to prepare concise notes, highlight key points, and revise them regularly as the examination approaches. Mental preparedness, hard work, and the ability to effectively express one’s knowledge are crucial to reach the pinnacle of success, he added.
KSOU Vice-Chancellor Sharanappa V. Halse, who also spoke on the occasion, described learning as a continuous journey that cannot be completed in a single day. He urged students to constantly assess the knowledge they acquire after joining the university and move forward with clear goals.
