Alva’s Education Foundation organised a felicitation programme to honour Major General Bruce Fernandez, Additional Director General, Army Recruitment-Bengaluru and outstanding NCC achievers of the Foundation on Monday, at Moodbidri.
The program was jointly organised by the NCC Army, Naval, and Air Wings of the Foundation to recognise cadets for their achievements in national-level camps, youth exchange initiatives, and leadership activities.

Highlighting the role of NCC in shaping character, Maj. Gen. Fernandes said the organisation instils values, namely, honesty, integrity, teamwork, perseverance and allegiance to the nation. Recalling his experiences as an NCC cadet, he noted that the training provides resilience and the ‘never-say-die’ spirit essential to face challenges in life.
The Officer underlined that discipline must become a way of life for citizens and urged NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and Scouts to carry the message of responsible citizenship beyond the campus. He urged students to lead a righteous life by walking on the right path and advised them to never get deterred by troubles. He said one must uphold the integrity of thought, word, and deed, and warned against duplicity and deceit.
Observing that society today often lives in ‘shades of ambiguity’, he urged students to remove confusion through values and character and never allow integrity to slip at any point in life.

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd., retired Managing Director M. Venkatesh, father of martyr Captain M.V. Pranjal, thanked Alva’s for dedicating its National Cultural Festival Virasat to Pranjal after his martyrdom. Stating that uniforms bring with them great responsibility, he urged students to remain committed to integrity and service.
Encouraging the youth to dream big, he said students could aspire to become farmers, scientists, armed forces personnel, businessmen or professionals and contribute meaningfully to society.
Six cadets who attended the Republic Day Camp and one cadet who participated in the Thal Sainik Camp were felicitated along with Maj. Gen. Fernandez and Mr. Venkatesh.
Foundation Managing Trustee M. Vivek Alva presided.
