A State-level conclave on farmer safety and mitigation of human-wildlife conflict will be held at Thiruvambady in Kozhikode district on Tuesday (September 29, 2026), bringing farmers, experts, elected representatives and officials together to discuss scientific and practical solutions to wildlife attacks.
Forest and Wildlife Minister Shibu Baby John will inaugurate the conclave at the Sacred Heart Church Parish Hall at Thiruvambady at 10 a.m. Agriculture Minister T. Siddique will preside over the event, being organised by the Agriculture department in association with the Forest department.
Revenue Minister A.P. Anilkumar, MPs M.K. Raghavan, Shafi Parambil and Priyanka Gandhi, MLAs, officials from various departments and experts in the field are expected to attend the day-long conclave, which will conclude at 5 p.m.
According to the organisers, the discussions will focus on scientific and technology-based measures to prevent wildlife attacks and reduce the possibility of human-wildlife conflict. They said the conclave would seek to bring together scientific knowledge, technological solutions and the experience of farming communities to develop practical models for protecting farmers.
Measures for improving farmer safety and reducing crop and livelihood losses caused by wildlife attacks are also expected to figure in the discussions. The conclave, according to the Forest department officials, is envisaged as a platform for identifying solutions that can be implemented on the ground in areas frequently affected by human-wildlife conflict.
