Four arrested for murder of youth in Udupi district

The Kota police of Udupi district arrested four persons accused of murdering a youth in Padukare on Sunday night.

The police identified the deceased as Santosh. He attended a party in a bar along with his friends, Sachin, Chetan, Kaushik, Srujan, and Darshan, on Sunday night. Then they came to Padukere Circle and had food. As they were talking to each other near the circle, there were heated exchanges between Santosh and Darshan, Kaushik, Ankit, and Srujan. Darshan, Kaushik, Ankit, and Srujan reportedly hit Santosh and latter collapsed to the ground, said the police.

Santosh’s friend Rajat took the help of his three friends to take Santosh to a private hospital in Brahmavar. The doctors checked and declared Santosh died.

On a complaint by Rajat, the police arrested Darshan, 21, of Parampalli; Kaushik, 21, of Sastana; Ankit, 19, and Srujan, 21, both from Kotatattu. They were accused of offences punishable under Sections 103, 115(2) and 352 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They were produced before the jurisdictional magistrate, who remanded them in judicial custody, the police said.
