Fourth edition of book fair begins in Theni

The fourth edition of the annual book fair began at Nadar Saraswathi Boys Higher Secondary School Grounds here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Ranjith Singh said the government was organising book fairs across the State and they should be utilised by the youth. Reading books apart from knowledge acquired from academic subjects would give much needed confidence to the young minds. Though there were e-books the students should cultivate the reading habit through out their life.

Thanking the school management for providing the ground for conducting the book fair, Mr. Ranjith Singh said that public could donate books, which would be given to those in need. A special donation box was available at the book fair.

The district administration and the Directorate, Public Library, have organised special programmes daily in which noted writers, orators and popular personalities in the literary field would address the gathering on topics useful for the public. Also, folk arts and music programme would form part of the expo.

Theni MP Thanga Tamil Selvan said the book Fair, which was once held only in big cities, was extended to all major districts and thanked Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for the efforts.

He appealed to students to acquire knowledge through books and assured support to the district administration from MP-LAD fund.
