GBA cracks down on Domlur building over setback violation

Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao on Tuesday directed Central City Corporation officials to issue a notice to a building under construction near Domlur for failing to leave the mandatory setback. He also ordered officials to initiate removal action after serving the notice.

The Commissioner inspected various locations under the Bengaluru Central City Corporation, during which he observed that the building was being constructed after demolishing an old structure without leaving setbacks on all four sides.

At the same location, he also noticed a commercial building constructed without a setback and instructed officials to disconnect its electricity connection immediately.

Vending zone

Mr. Rao also directed officials to examine the possibility of developing a vending zone or parking facility on the wide footpath along Domlur Main Road. He instructed officials to remove walls obstructing pedestrian movement and develop a clear pedestrian pathway.

He also directed officials to take up the development of Domlur Junction and carry out road repair works properly. Officials were instructed to asphalt Saibaba Temple Road.

The Commissioner also noted that roads in the Domlur area had not been restored despite the completion of sanitary-line works by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB). He directed officials to immediately take up road repair and restoration works.

CCTV cameras

During his visit to the Kodihalli Primary Health Centre, Mr. Rao directed officials to earmark a separate area for biomedical waste and install CCTV cameras for the facility’s security. Health officials were also instructed to ensure the supply of necessary medicines to the centre.

Wind tunnel underpass

Mr. Rao directed officials to expedite work on the wind tunnel underpass, which he said was around 80% complete. With only the box-pushing work remaining, he instructed officials to complete the pending works at the earliest and finish the underpass by the end of November.
