The School Education Department in Tiruchi has taken steps to provide free coaching for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) to students of government and aided schools.
As part of the initiative, students will be shortlisted based on their interests and academic performance in the quarterly and half-yearly examinations. Those selected will undergo a structured coaching programme designed to strengthen their conceptual understanding and exam preparedness.
The NEET coaching will include regular classes, subject-wise tests in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology, mock tests, unit and revision tests, and discussions with previous years’ question papers, doubt-clearing sessions, and mentoring by experienced faculty members. Special focus will be given to students from economically weaker sections to ensure equal access to competitive exam preparation.
According to an official source, the programme will be on the lines of the State-level residential training organised at Cuddalore for JEE (Main) aspirants, under which around 300 students are to be trained.
The process of identifying eligible students is under way, after which the venue and duration of the coaching programme will be announced. The initiative is expected to boost the confidence of government school students and significantly enhance their prospects of securing admission to medical colleges.
The training will be implemented through the newly created Vetri (Vibrant Education Targeting Reputed Institutions) Palligal, a School Education Department initiative aimed at expanding academic support for government school students preparing for competitive examinations such as NEET, JEE, CLAT, and others.
