The Chittoor district administration and CMC Vellore Chittoor campus signed an MoA under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with an aim to improve access to quality healthcare for the urban population of Chittoor town. The pact was signed by Collector Sumit Kumar on behalf of the government and CMC Vellore Director Dr. Vikram Mathews at the Collectorate, on Tuesday.
As per the agreement, CMC Vellore Chittoor campus will deploy doctors at the old government maternity centre in Mittoor ward to provide outpatient services, medical consultations, and care coordination. In addition, health services will be extended to urban slum areas through mobile medical units.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector stated that the initiative was a new and innovative step towards enhancing the standards of urban primary health care. He added that the government was happy to support and promote such Public-Private Partnerships in the public health sector and was looking forward to similar initiatives in the future.
Meanwhile, Dr. Vikram Mathews said that serving the healthcare needs of socially and economically marginalised communities was the core mission of CMC. He expressed happiness in collaborating with the government to further this mission and deliver quality care to the community.
District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Sudharani, Municipal Commissioner Narasimha Prasad, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Lokesh, Associate Director of CMC Chittoor Campus Dr. Uday Zachariah, Medical Superintendent Dr. I. Rajesh, and ICMR Project Scientist Dr. M.R. Lokesh and others took part.
