Shobha Karandlaje lambasts Congress govt. for lack of governance in State

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress leadership saying that the unresolved power struggle within that party has affected governance in the State.

Speaking to presspersons here, Ms. Karandlaje said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has asserted that he will continue in the post for a full five-year term. He has projected himself as the final authority, while Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has maintained that the power sharing arrangement between them has already been decided by the party high command.

She remarked that such differing claims from senior leaders indicate uncertainty within the ruling party over decision-making authority. Ms. Karandlaje said that lack of clarity within the Congress high command reflects in the State unit where questions over leadership continue to remain unresolved and it is affecting governance in the State.

Ms. Karandlaje said that while AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge has asked State party leaders to sort out their differences internally, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has no time to address these internal issues facing the party in Karnataka, as he is busy making statement against the nation during his visit to Germany.

She said that if Mr. Siddaramaiah is formally declared the party’s final authority in the State, he will be able to take all decisions independently. Until then, the prevailing confusion within the Congress is likely to persist, the Minister added.
