GURUGRAM:
Gurugram Police arrested a 52-year-old woman on Monday for allegedly assaulting and forcibly restraining her domestic help at her apartment in DLF Camellias in Sector 42, Gurugram.
The woman was booked on charges of voluntarily causing hurt and wrongful confinement.
She was later released on bail.
The arrest came after a team from the Sushant Lok police station took suo motu cognisance of a video purportedly showing the abuse that went viral on social media.
In the purported 90-second video, believed to have been recorded secretly by a neighbour, the accused can be seen hitting the victim repeatedly and pulling her hair.
The incident took place on July 24 at the DLF Camellias on Golf Course Road, said a senior police officer.
Preliminary probe
According to the preliminary investigation, the woman allegedly assaulted her domestic help following a work-related argument. The domestic help subsequently quit the job on July 27.
Further investigation is under way, and additional action will be taken in accordance with the law, the officer said.
