The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has bagged three national awards at the 47th All India Public Relations Conference – 2025, organised by the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) under the theme ‘Empowering Growth, Preserving Roots – The PR Vision for 2047’, held at Dehradun, Uttarakhand, from December 13 to 15.
The three awards won by the corporation were for — Best CSR Project for Child Care – first prize for implementing an outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project aimed at child welfare and health protection through programmes conducted at the GVMC-run Balyam Vidya Kendras in Visakhapatnam, focusing on children’s health, education, safety, nutrition, and care; Best Use of Social Media in a Corporate Campaign – won the first prize for the effective use of social media in the corporation’ scorporate-level campaigns to disseminate information on city services, governance initiatives, and public awareness programs to citizens; Women Empowerment and Community Development won the second prize for the successful implementation of programmes aimed at women empowerment, social and economic development, self-employment, and capacity building.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said that the awards were presented on December 14 by the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal and PRSI National President Dr. Ajit Pathak. GVMC Additional Commissioner D.V. Ramana Murthy received the award on behalf of the corporation.
Mr. Garg added that the awards are a recognition of GVMC’s people-centric initiatives carried out with active public participation.
