Single-digit temperatures continue to prevail across the Agency areas of Alluri Sitharama Raju district as a cold wave tightens its grip on the region, bringing intense winter chill.
Araku Valley recorded a minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday (December 14), marking a slight rise compared to the previous two days, during which the valley experienced temperatures hovering close to 3 degrees Celsius continuously.
Dumbriguda and G. Madugula reported minimum temperatures of 5.1 degrees Celsius and 5.5 degrees Celsius respectively, while Munchingputtu registered a low of 6 degrees Celsius. The mercury hovered around 7 degrees Celsius in Hukumpeta and Chintapalli mandals. District headquarters Paderu recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6 degrees Celsius, while Pedabayalu registered a minimum of 9 degrees Celsius.
Popular tourist destinations across the Agency region witnessed a heavy inflow of visitors from various parts of the State. Tourist spots such as Borra Caves, Chaparai, Katika Waterfalls, Vanjangi, the Tribal Museum, Padmapuram Gardens, Wooden Bridge, Madagada View Point, Lambasingi and several other locations were seen packed with tourists.
Borra Caves alone attracted as many as 5,500 tourists on Sunday, generating a revenue of âč5.13 lakh. On Saturday (December 13), the number of visitors stood at 6,900, with the revenue collection amounting to âč5.22 lakh.
Similarly, Vanjangi, the hotspot in Paderu mandal, popularly known as âMeghala Kondaluâ, drew large crowds, receiving 4,257 tourists on Sunday and 2,582 visitors on Saturday.
