Gajuwaka has the highest number of voters among the zones under the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), with 2,98,229 voters across 19 wards, according to the ward-wise electoral data officially released by the civic body in connection with the proposed local body elections.
The East Zone follows with 2,96,124 voters in 18 wards, while the North Zone has 2,91,691 voters across 20 wards. The South Zone has 2,17,817 voters in 16 wards and the West Zone has 2,14,094 voters in 17 wards.
The total number of voters in the 120 wards under the GVMC limits, as on September 22, 2026, is 18,29,966. Of these, 9,27,676 are women, 9,02,171 are men and 119 are voters belonging to the others category.
Among the other zones, Madhurawada has 1,49,452 voters in seven wards, while Pendurthi has 1,49,367 voters in seven wards. Anakapalli has 76,950 voters in six wards, Aganampudi has 69,796 voters in five wards and Bheemunipatnam has 66,446 voters in five wards.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said the ward-wise voter lists were published on September 22 at the government offices designated by the State Election Commission, enabling members of the public to inspect and verify the electoral details.
He said that, in accordance with the directions of the State Election Commission, a special survey would be conducted from September 23 to 25 to collect ward-wise details of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Backward Class (BC) and women voters.
Booth-level and other designated officials would visit the respective wards and contact residents to collect the required information as part of the exercise, he said.
Mr. Garg appealed to citizens to provide accurate information to the officials and extend their cooperation for the smooth completion of the survey.
The exercise assumes significance in view of the proposed local body elections, with the civic authorities undertaking preparatory work relating to electoral rolls and the collection of ward-wise demographic details.
