Police investigating the firing and robbery near the State Bank of India main branch in Koti, Hyderabad, on January 31 said the two assailants involved were inter-State criminals from Uttar Pradesh. An officer from the Sultan Bazar police confirmed that teams were tracking their movement across districts and possible exit routes from the city.
Another senior officer associated with the investigation said six teams have been formed, including personnel from the task force, to trace and apprehend the accused. The victim, 26-year-old Rinshad P.V., a cloth merchant from Kozhikode in Kerala, remains admitted to Osmania General Hospital. Doctors have informed the police that he is out of danger, suffered no fracture and sustained tissue abrasion to the right leg, for which a minor surgical procedure was performed.
As reported earlier, Rinshad was shot on his right shin while depositing ₹6 lakh at the ATM on Bank Street, Koti, after two men threatened him with a firearm and snatched the cash. The assailants fled on his two wheeler, later abandoning it at Kacheguda and escaping towards Old City.
Police said CCTV footage from multiple locations is being analysed and technical evidence is being examined to establish the suspects’ identities and movements. Coordination with neighbouring States has also been initiated as part of the inter-State probe. A case was registered at Sultan Bazar police station.
