The Puttur Town police have booked RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for a hate speech at a function of a private college in Puttur on January 12.
In the complaint, K. Ramachandra, a resident of Puttur, accused Bhat of making a speech that hurt communal sentiments. The speech was telecast on Vikasana TV, a local Youtube television channel, the complainant claimed..
The police registered a case against Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, and also against the owner of the Youtube channel and the organiser of the event, for offences under Sections 196, 299, 302, 353(2), 3(5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Earlier case of hate speech
On October 20, 2025, the Puttur Rural police had booked a case against Mr. Bhat for an alleged hate speech during the Deepotsava programme at Uppalige in Irde village of Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka. His application for anticipatory bail was opposed by Ishwari Padmunja, District Joint Secretary of Janawadi Mahila Sangha, the complainant in the case. The Fifth Additional District and Sessions Judge, Puttur, D. Saritha, granted anticipatory bail to Mr. Bhat on December 10, 2025.
