Lokesh to launch India’s first AAD Educity at Bhogapuram

IT and Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Nara Lokesh will launch the GMR MANSAS Educity Project coming up at Bhogapuram on Tuesday (December 16, 2025). This initiatve is part of the State government’s plan to establish the country’s first Aviation, Aerospace, Defence (AAD) educational city.

According to an official release, the aviation, aerospace and defence sectors in India are developing at a rapid pace. Passenger footfall is projected to reach 700 million across the 200 airports in the country. Similarly, the aerospace and defence market, valued at ₹28.7 billion in 2024 is expected to touch $57 billiion by 2034.

The release highlighted the shortage of pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers, including shortage of advance courses in arospace design, sustainable aviation, and AI/cyber security. Presently, only 8,000 aerospace engineers graduate annually just 0.5% of the total engineering graduades in the country.

The AAD Education City in Bhogapuram will be India’s first integrated education and innovation hub for the sector. Officials said that renowned universities will be set up within the City along with International branch campuses of these renowned universities.
