Two persons – father and son -surrendered before a magistrate court in Periyakulam in Theni district on Friday in connection with a double murder case reported in Bodi Taluk police station on Thursday.
The two accused – Sivakumar and his son Pradeep – allegedly murdered two persons – Nikila (wife of Pradeep) and Vivek (brother of Nikila).
It is said that Nikila and Pradeep were married only three months ago. However, there was a domestic quarrel between them as Pradeep reportedly consumed liquor and was jobless. Annoyed, his wife left for her parents house. However, after a compromise, reached a week ago, they lived together. But, as they began quarrelling again, Nikila left for her house.
On Thursday, she came with her relatives to Pradeep’s house to take her belongings during which time, a wordy altercation broke and leading to to Sivakumar and Pradeep attacking both Vivek and Nikila.
As both died, the relatives and the accused escaped from the spot. Bodi Taluk police had registered a case of murder and were on the look out for the duo. The court has given police custody for a day and directed the police to produce them on Saturday.
