In an incident shrouded in suspicion, a man and his daughter were found charred to death at Rajiv Gruhakalpa complex in Kadipikonda village under Kazipet mandal on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Rajashekhar (54) and his daughter Rajasri (24). Rajasri, along with her husband Praveen, had arrived at her parents’ home from Hyderabad two days ago to conduct the Annaprasana ceremony for their daughter, which was held on Tuesday. The couple has two children, Jayansh (2) and Divisha (six-months-old).
Family members alleged foul play and suspected the involvement of Rajasri’s husband, Praveen. They claimed that he may have set the two on fire after murdering them following family disputes and attempted to pass off the deaths as accidental. At the time of the incident, Praveen was reportedly outside the house with the children and later alerted locals.
Residents noticed flames from the house in the early hours, triggering panic, and informed the police and fire services.
On receiving information, Madikonda Inspector P. Kishan and SI Raj Kumar reached the spot, along with a Clues team, and collected the fingerprints and other evidence.
The bodies were shifted to MGM Hospital for post-mortem. Police have detained Praveen for questioning and registered a case. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the fire and verify the allegations.
