A 41-year-old man got double life imprisonment on Thursday for sexually assaulting a mentally disturbed woman.
The 25-year-old woman residing at Gandikuppam was sexually assaulted by Sam Ribeth when she was alone in her house on October 9, 2021. On hearing her screaming, local residents gathered, caught him and handed him over to the police. The police registered a case and arrested him. The case trial was held at the Krishnagiri Principal District Court, and on Thursday, the court found the accused guilty and awarded him double life imprisonment.
Likewise, in another case, six persons got five years’ imprisonment for attempting to murder a farmer in the district.
Anbalagan, a resident of Kottayur near Kaveripattinam, is a farmer. Due to a land dispute between him and his relatives, on October 27, 2011, a clash broke out between them. During the clash, Velmurugan (47), Sinthamani (41), Sakthivel (42), Govindan (38), Radha (37), and Ranganathan (28) attempted to kill Anbalagan. The Kaveripattinam police registered a case. The case trial was held at the Krishnagiri principal sub court and on Thursday, the court found the accused guilty and awarded five years imprisonment each.
