A man, earlier arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl, was sentenced to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) by a Hyderabad court on Tuesday. The court also slapped a fine of ₹11,000 and ordered compensation of ₹2 lakh to the victim.
The accused was identified as Mohammed Yaseen, 20, a driver and resident of Darji Basti, Risala Bazaar, Bollarum.
The case, registered in 2018 under Sections 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) and 376(2)(n) (repeated rape on the same woman) of the Indian Penal Code, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and SC/ST (POA) Act, was investigated by Bollarum police, with scientific, medical, and documentary evidence supporting the prosecution.
Special Additional Public Prosecutor M. Ramadevi represented the State, leading to the conviction by Special Sessions Judge G. Udaya Bhaskar Rao at HACA Bhavan, Hyderabad.
