Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath Gupta on Thursday said that the onus of keeping the city clean rests not only with sanitation staff but with every person, urging students and voluntary organisations in Kurnool to come forward and raise awareness among citizens about the importance of cleanliness.

Mr. Bharath, along with Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner Challa Obulesu and staff, took part in the ‘Ek din – ek gantha – ek saath’ (One day – One hour – Together) initiative, aimed at creating awareness about cleanliness as part of Swacchtha hi Seva – 2026. Along with the municipality staff, the Minister swept the roads at Sankalbagh on the banks of the Tungabhadra River.

Commissioner Obulesu said the civic body is taking various steps to keep the city clean and pointed out that the participation of the public is crucial. He urged people not to throw garbage on the streets and to segregate dry and wet waste. He asked people to keep their surroundings clean and also to educate others about the importance of cleanliness.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bharath along with Collector Dr. A. Siri disbursed pension to the beneficiaries in the Birlagadda area as part of ‘Pedala Sevalo’ programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister expressed happiness about Kurnool Assembly constituency securing 8th rank at the State level for positive public perception of government services. He said that Kurnool constituency holds first position at the district level.

Mr. Bharath urged officials and public representatives to work in coordination and put in greater effort to reach the top spot at the state level. He noted that feedback is being systematically collected from the public on whether pensions are reaching them on time and if they are facing any challenges.

The Minister stated that a positive perception is formed based on the public’s feedback regarding the government services they receive.
