The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a 64-year-old man from Jangaon district for allegedly promoting and supporting the banned CPI (Maoist) organisation, officials said on Sunday.
The arrested was identified as Gade Innaiah alias Inna Reddy, a resident of Regadi Thanda in Zaffergadh mandal. According to the NIA, he was taken into custody from the Maa Illu Prajadharana Ashramam in the same village.
The case was registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The NIA stated that Innaiah, while addressing a gathering during the funeral of a deceased CPI (Maoist) worker in Vikalp, had allegedly encouraged support for the organisation. He expressed an intention to further the activities of the CPI (Maoist), and incited those present to engage in unlawful activities to continue the Maoist revolution.
