Oktoberfest: Lufthansa crew onboard Bengaluru-Munich flight sport traditional costume

With the Oktoberfest 2026 celebrations under way in Munich, the crew on the Lufthansa Airlines flight between Bengaluru and Munich will be dressed in traditional Bavarian attire.

This is the first time the crew onboard the flight on this route will be dressed in the traditional costume.

“For 20 years, our long-haul crews have swapped their uniforms for Bavarian traditional costume during Oktoberfest season: the first traditional costume crew departed on September 1, 2006, from Munich to New York. With the current, modern design, we are continuing the long-standing tradition of traditional costume flights from Munich. The details speak for themselves: this costume was created exclusively for Lufthansa’s cabin crews and is truly one of a kind,” said Heiko Reitz, Divisional Board Member of Lufthansa Airlines and Hub Manager Munich.

The airline said that the crew will be wearing the traditional costume on two international routes — to Bengaluru (LH764) and Beijing (LH722).

It added that the collection was designed by Lower Bavarian traditional fashion manufacturer Spieth & Wensky and combines Bavarian tradition with elements of Lufthansa’s design.

On Tuesday (September 22) the crew were given a traditional welcome at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

Lufthansa started a direct flight service connecting Bengaluru and Munich in Germany in November 2023.

Lufthansa said that it is bringing Bavarian cuisine to the skies on selected intercontinental flights from Munich and Frankfurt. Across all travel classes, guests can look forward to a specially created menu. “The selection ranges from traditional starters including white sausage terrine and pretzel tree, through hearty Oktoberfest classics such as Wiesn roast duck and fried chicken, to sweet highlights like apple strudel. Passengers on continental routes are also catered for: in Business Class, Lufthansa is serving an Oktoberfest menu until October 6,” it said.
