The carriageway was declared open for traffic by Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary and MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty at Katpady in Udupi district on Friday.

Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Member of Parliament Kota Srinivas Poojary and Gurme Suresh Shetty, Kaup MLA, on Friday, declared one of the two carriageways (Mangaluru to Udupi direction) of the Katpady vehicular underpass (VUP) open for traffic.
The VUP is being constructed for Kanniyakumari-Panvel National Highway 66 at Katpady Junction in Udupi district at an estimated cost of ₹17 crore. Mr. Poojary and Mr. Shetty, who had inspected the project site on April 6, had announced one carriageway would be opened on Friday to reduce hardship to road users.
