“People are deeply angry with the DMK. They have fulfilled only 13% of their poll promises. There is no doubt that the party will face a crushing defeat in the upcoming Assembly elections,” said Anbumani Ramadoss, who heads a faction of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).

Addressing the press here on Saturday before attending an event, he highlighted that Tamil Nadu’s agricultural growth was in the negative and the State’s debts soared to ₹9.55 crore.

“Tamil Nadu is the most indebted State in India, paying ₹62,000 crore just in interest,” Mr. Anbumani said.

Criticising the DMK’s stand on conducting caste census in the State, he said the party had no right to speak about social justice. “Those who refuse to conduct a caste census are unfit to even utter Periyar’s name,” he noted.

He argued that a caste-based survey was essential to protect the 69% reservation and ensure justice for all 365 communities. He said States like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar had already conducted such surveys and the Karnataka High Court had affirmed the State’s power to do so.

To a question on the controversy over lighting of Karthigai Deepam at Thirupparankundram, he cautiously replied that politics should be avoided in matters of spiritualism and urged the State government to respect court verdicts and ensure a peaceful environment.

“Chief Minister M.K. Stalin should stop spreading false data regarding industrial investments. It is understood that only 8.8% of the promised investments in the State have materialised,” he stated.

Regarding his PMK faction’s alliance in the upcoming elections, he said talks were going on and a “grand alliance” would be announced soon.
