The city police on Friday night (February 20, 2026) imposed Section 30 of the A.P. Police Act, 1861, within the limits of the East Sub-Division.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, (East Sub-division limits), K. Lakshmana Murthy said that the prohibitory orders were issued in view of maintaining law and order in the city. He stated that considering student protests, VVIP visits, and other agitations, these orders have been enforced under Section 30 of the A.P. The Collectorate, Zilla Parishad, GVMC, RTC Complex, Railway Station, Andhra University, Jagadamba Junction, Ambedkar Statue, Siripuram, and Beach Road along with surrounding areas have been declared as prohibitory zones.
No processions, public meetings, assemblies, or gatherings shall be conducted in these areas without prior permission. Anyone intending to organise any such programme must obtain written permission in advance, he said.
These orders came into force from midnight of February 20, 2026, and will remain in effect until midnight of February 28, 2026, he said, adding that strict legal action will be taken against those who violate these orders.
