Criticising the State government and elected representatives for their neglect towards the development of Kalaburagi district, members of Kalyana Karnataka Kannadapara Sanghatanegala Okkutta demanded that they take up development works in the district immediately.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, okkutta leaders Manjunath Nalwarkar and Sachin Farhatabad said that despite the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) receiving substantial funds under Article 371(J), Kalaburagi city has not benefited adequately even in terms of basic infrastructure.
Expressing concern over the sudden suspension of flight services from Kalaburagi Airport, Mr. Nalwarkar said that the airport is crucial for trade and industries and questioned the silence of Ministers, MLAs, MPs from the Kalyana Karnataka region over the suspension of flight services and demanded their immediate resumption.
Mr. Nalwarkar said that street vendors in major market areas continued to face hardship due to the failure of the authorities to provide designated vending zones with basic infrastructure.
The okkutta further accused Medical Education Minister Sharanprakash Patil of favouring candidates from Sedam taluk in recruitments to Jayadeva Hospital, Trauma Care Centre and GIMS Hospital and demanded fair employment opportunities for residents of Kalaburagi city.
The okkutta will stage a protest in Kalaburagi city on Thursday demanding that these issues be addressed immediately.
