The ‘Puthiya Thamizhagam’, which was part of the National Democratic Alliance in the past and remains side-lined by the NDA now, will finalise its electoral alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections before February 14, said party founder president K. Krishnasamy.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Dr. Krishnasamy said the talks for alliance was going on even as the party was preparing the cadres at the grassroot level so as to take “a clear decision” on alliance between February 12 and 14. PT would be a part of the government to be formed after the Assembly polls, he said.

When asked about his not being invited for the recently held National Democratic Alliance’s election rally at Madurantakam, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed, the PT chief said the party did not receive the invitation on time.

He also gave an elusive reply to the query that if he would participate in the NDA’s second election rally in the State to be held in Madurai on March 1.

“We are keeping our doors open for pleasant wind to enter… We are conducting meetings in every district even as the party’s high-level committee was visiting these districts to submit their report on February 11. Hence, we’ll take the decision on electoral alliance between February 12 and 14,” Dr. Krishnasamy said.

He charged that the officials and the Maanjolai tea estate administration had forced the workers to leave after power and water supply to their houses were disconnected. “Even though functioning of the tea estate had stopped long back, the workers, who have found their livelihood elsewhere in the plains, are still living in their houses in the Western Ghats. Hence, the disconnection of power and water supply is a human rights violation, which will be presented before the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on February 12,” Dr. Krishnasamy said alleging that the official machinery was giving false information to the Court.
