Under a joint initiative of the Puducherry Technological University (PTU) and National Mental Health Mission (NMHM), Puducherry, 14 undergraduate students of the University with the assistance of their faculty and doctors, have developed three innovative mental health applications – Mindora-Py, Peace and AlzPredict.

At a function held in the Legislative Assembly recently, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy launched all the three Apps in the presence of senior officials from the Health Department and the PTU. During the launch, the Chief Minister distributed Certificates of Recognition to the students and mentors of the project, a release here said.

While Mindora Py, a mobile and web app, has been designed to detect learning disorders such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia among children aged between 5 and 18 years, Peace is a mobile app to track mental health status of graduate students through semester-wise assessments, identifying early signs of stress, anxiety and depression, a release from PTU said.

The AlzPredict Web App has been designed as a digital tool for screening geriatric patients in hospital OPDs for early signs of Alzheimer’s disease. The students developed the Apps under the mentorship of K. Jayanthi, Department of ECE, PTU, Balan Stephen Ponnumani, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, GH, Puducherry and Nodal Officer, NMHM and Pradeep Thilakan, Head, Department of Psychiatry, PIMS, the release said.
