Raichur ZP CEO orders comprehensive survey of individual household toilets under SBM

Raichur Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ishwar Kumar Kandoo has directed officers to conduct a comprehensive ground-level survey of Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) across all the gram panchayats in the district under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) (Gramin).

Releasing a note on Monday, the CEO stated that all panchayat officials have been directed to conduct an effective survey on the existence of individual toilets constructed under SBM.

“​Although Raichur was previously declared an Open Defecation Free district, authorities received several complaints stating that eligible families were left without toilets, and in some cases, records showed toilets constructed where none actually existed or were functional,” Mr. Kandoo said.

Door to door inspection

Field teams would visit every household to verify the physical existence, construction status, and usage of toilets. The surveyors, who have been deployed on duty, should log real-time data and toilet usage details for each house on the ‘Nirmala Raichur’ mobile application made available to them, the CEO stated.

Deadline

The survey commenced on Monday (September 21) and must be completed within 15 days, followed by consolidated gram panchayat and taluk-level reports, he said.

Supervision

Taluk Panchayat Executive Officers and Assistant Directors (Panchayat Raj) have been appointed as nodal officers to oversee quality and progress. District-level consultants would monitor execution across taluks, he said.

The initiative aimed to capture actual ground realities, identify genuine missing beneficiaries, and take corrective action to ensure total sanitation coverage, the CEO further added.
