A two-wheeler rider rides his bike on the railway track as work on the limited use subway near Tiruchuli has not been completed.

Scores of residents from Mithalaikulam and Melakulam near Tiruchuli staged a protest against the incomplete status of a railway limited use subway and sought early completion of the work for free flow of vehicular traffic on Tuesday.
The villagers prevented the railway workers from carrying out an engineering work for track maintenance and the police and revenue officials had to pacify them.
According to local people, the subway which was constructed in 2018 has been left incomplete due to lack of land acquisition.
However, smaller vehicles were using the subway by passing through private patta land. However, the land owner had dug up his land to take up some construction work, said a local farmer, K. Prakash, 28. This has blocked the movement of vehicles under the railway track.
“Our village is located between Tiruchuli and Narikudi railway stations. If we cannot use the subway, we have to go around seven km to reach the other side of the railway track,” he said.
The subway work could not be completed as the villagers had objected to putting up the structure close to the irrigation channel. “We have given multiple petitions to the Tahsildar and Collector. However, no action has been taken to set things right for free movement of vehicles,” he complained.
