Corporation Commissioner Chitra Vijayan inaugurating Suvai restaurant on Madurai Corporation premises.
In a noble initiative, Suvai – a vegetarian restaurant and kitchen employing persons with disabilities and intellectual disabilities – was opened on Madurai Corporation (Arignar Anna Maligai) premises.
According to a press release issued on Saturday, the initiative is supported by Madurai Corporation, Chennai Mission Foundation and M.S. Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation.
The pioneering initiative goes beyond serving food – it provides employment and skill development opportunities. So far 21 persons have been employed at the restaurant. Through this collective social commitment Suvai vegetarian restaurant stands as a beacon of hope, creating a brighter, inclusive future for persons with disabilities.
The restaurant was inaugurated by Corporation Commissioner Chitra Vijayan in the presence of the founder of M.S. Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation C. Ramasubramanian. Director Programmes of M.S. Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation K.S.P. Janardhan Babu proposed a vote of thanks.
Employees of Municipal Corporation, representatives from M.S. Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation and representatives from Chennai Mission participated in the event.
