A 63-year-old man was killed after a lorry rammed his motorcycle in Tiruvottiyur on Tuesday morning. The lorry driver has been detained.
According to the Washermanpet Traffic Investigation Wing (TIW), the deceased was identified as Sukumaran of Ernavur. He was riding home after buying groceries when a lorry approaching from behind hit his two-wheeler. He suffered grievous injuries and was killed on the spot.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that Sukumaran worked at a private scan centre in Tondiarpet. Earlier that morning, he had visited his son and granddaughter in Tiruvottiyur. The police have registered a case and further investigation is under way.
