Sivaganga district police have registered a case against a woman who defrauded a youth of ₹4.15 lakh promising she would secure him an Assistant Engineer job at the Dindigul Corporation.
Police said, Rameshkumar, 32, a resident of Devakottai, Sivaganga district, had completed his engineering and was searching for a job.
Last year, he got introduced to a woman named Sumathi alias Muthulakshmi, 40, from Velampatti near Natham in Dindigul district, through a social media application.
Claiming that she was working as an Inspector at the Dindigul All-Women Police Station and knew ministers and high-ranking officials working at the Chennai Secretariat, she had promised the complainant that she would get him a job as an Assistant Engineer job at the Dindigul Corporation office.
Believing this, Rameshkumar gave ₹4.15 lakh to Muthulakshmi. Additionally, he handed over a two-wheeler, a laptop, and his original educational certificates. However, she neither secured the job as promised nor returned the money.
Following this, based on a complaint lodged by Rameshkumar, Devakottai Town Police have registered a case against Muthulakshmi and are investigating.
