Six teams recognised at BKIT Innovation Ideathon

Six student teams were recognised at the college-level Innovation Ideathon 2026 organised by Bheemanna Khandre Institute of Technology (BKIT), Bhalki, after the quality of participation prompted judges to increase the number of winning positions from three to six.

The ideathon was organised with the support of Agastya International Foundation, Anveshana and Synopsys Ltd., Bengaluru. As many as 72 teams registered for the event, of which 56 submitted presentations. Forty-five teams participated in the preliminary rounds held on September 26 and 28, and 12 teams were shortlisted for the final round in the CSE Seminar Hall on September 29.

The participating students presented ideas aimed at addressing real-world problems. The projects were evaluated on the strength of the idea, technical understanding, feasibility and potential impact. The evaluators also interacted with the teams and offered technical guidance to help them further develop their ideas.

The six recognised teams were Kaamdo and Thrinetra AI (first place); Smart Farmer Marketplace and Solar Chain (second place); and Mesh-Rescue and Proof of Reality (third place).

Rajashekar Matpathi, dean, Skill Development and Training and placement officer, said the response from students was encouraging and that the technical thinking and clarity demonstrated by them were impressive. He encouraged students to continue building, testing and refining their ideas.

He thanked Synopsys Ltd., Bengaluru, for its support and acknowledged the management, principal, heads of departments, faculty members, and student coordinator Hemanth and his team for their contribution to the event.

Bhaskar Naidu, State Programme Coordinator, Anveshana, Agastya International Foundation, said young minds brought fresh perspectives to real-world problems and that ideas backed by mentoring and the right platform could develop into meaningful solutions. He congratulated the student innovators and BKIT for organising the initiative.
