Sloth bear found dead – The Hindu

A female sloth bear was found dead in the forest near Kadayam in the district on Monday.

According to the officials of Kalakkad – Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve’s Ambasamudram Division, the 8-year-old female sloth bear was found dead in a private farm on Monday around 5 p.m. Following the information, a team of forest officials and the forest veterinarian visited the spot for conducting on-the-spot post-mortem.

After the post-mortem, the carcass was incinerated there.

The exact reason behind the death of the wild animal could be ascertained only after the post-mortem and the analysis of viscera, the officials said.
