In an effort to create awareness about maintaining cleanliness and keeping the city trash-free, a Swachch Marathon will be organised in Mysuru on February 8 at 6 a.m. as part of Swachh Survekshan 2025-26.

The marathon will be held in 3 km, 5 km and 10 km categories and will be flagged off from the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple. Held under the tagline “Run for Cleanliness”, the event is being organised by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) with the support of several partner organisations. The initiative aims to spread awareness about Swachh Survekshan, promote segregation of waste at source and encourage responsible waste disposal practices. The winners of the event will receive exciting prizes, the MCC said.

Posters for the marathon were released during an interaction held at the Mysuru City Corporation office on February 2. MCC Commissioner Sheikh Tanveer Asif, along with officials and representatives of supporting organisations, were present.

Another objective of the event is to motivate citizens to actively participate in Swachh Survekshan by providing feedback, besides supporting cleanliness-related events, drives and campaigns.

Urging the people of Mysuru to participate in large numbers and spread the message of cleanliness, MCC officials said all marathon events will begin from the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple. The 10 km marathon will be a competitive endurance run.

For the 3 km marathon, participants will run through K.R. Circle, MCC Office, Basaveshwara Circle, Hardinge Circle, Dodda Gadiyara, and Gandhi Square, finishing at the Town Hall.

For the 5 km marathon, participants will run through Dodda Gadiyara, D. Devaraj Urs Road, JLB Road, Ramaswamy Circle, Chamaraja Double Road, Basaveshwara Circle, and Hardinge Circle, also concluding at the Town Hall.

Runners in the 10 km marathon will complete two laps of the 5 km heritage route, passing through the Town Hall area while maintaining a controlled loop, said the MCC.
