Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka will take part in the padayatra conducted by the Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee on January 31.
Addressing a press conference here, Member of Parliament and PCC chief V. Vaithilingam said the party was receiving good response for the yatra that began on January 21 from Muthialpet. The yatra has covered most of the constituencies in the town, he said.
The Telangana Deputy Chief Minister will join the yatra on January 31. The Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has also promised to take part. AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi will visit Puducherry during the campaign for Assembly polls, he said.
The PCC chief said former Deputy Speaker T. P. R. Selvame has evinced interest in joining the Congress party. The former AINRC legislator has met Congress leaders to express his willingness to join the party, the MP said.
