The Telangana government has approved guidelines for regulating temporary and hyper-local advertisements in the Core Urban Region (CURE), allowing such advertisements to be booked online through designated locations.
The guidelines, approved by the Advertisement Regulatory Committee during a meeting held on September 9, 2026, provide for a ward-level Advertisement Nodal Officer in each ward to identify locations for temporary and hyper-local advertising. Around five to 10 locations will be earmarked for temporary advertisements and 25 to 50 for hyper-local advertisements, which will be approved by the Deputy Commissioner concerned and made available for online booking.
Hyperlocal advertising will cover notices such as tuition-class announcements, rental notices, missing person or dog notices, tournament invitations and social programmes.
Applicants can use MyCURE or Advertisement App to select the ward, category, location, duration and advertisement size, upload the draft advertisement and make the prescribed payment. A QR code containing the booking details and a printer ID will have to be displayed on every approved advertisement.
Temporary advertisements will be permitted for a maximum of three days, while hyper-local advertisements can be displayed for up to seven days.
The maximum permitted size will be 18X18 feet for temporary advertisements and 6 X 6 feet for hyper-local advertisements, both non-digital. Temporary advertising charges range from ₹1,000 to ₹4,000 a day depending on the location, while hyper-local advertising charges range from ₹100 to ₹500 a day.
The guidelines prohibit advertisements on trees, heritage structures, electrical poles, transformers, flyover carriageways and statues, unless specifically authorised. Advertisements cannot obstruct traffic, pedestrian pathways, traffic signals, road signs, CCTV visibility or public utilities. The cost of restoring any public property damaged during erection or removal will be recovered from the applicant.
Unauthorised advertisements will be removed immediately by the municipal authorities, police or the Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), with penalties and removal charges recovered from those responsible. The prescribed penalties range from ₹2,000 to ₹8,000 a day for temporary advertisements and ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 a day for hyper-local advertisements, depending on the location.
