The police arrested four persons, including three history-sheeters, for allegedly attacking two men with wooden logs and liquor bottles following a dispute in Virugambakkam, due to previous enmity.
According to police, Vetrivel, 29, a driver from Chinmaya Nagar in Virugambakkam, was talking with his friend Sargunam near the Kaliamman temple in Virugambakkam on Sunday night, when four men known to them allegedly intercepted them.
The accused reportedly questioned the duo on why they were coming to places frequented by them and abused them in obscene language before attacking them with wooden logs and liquor bottles. Injured in the assault, Vetrivel and Sargunam managed to escape from the spot.
Based on a complaint lodged by Vetrivel, the Virugambakkam Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Later, the police arrested four persons who were identified as Harish, 27, Rajesh alias āThiruttuā Rajesh, 24, Easwaran, 28, and Appu, 28, of Virugambakkam.
The police said investigations revealed that Harish, a history-sheeter at Koyambedu Police Station, has around 14 criminal cases against him, including attempt to murder, theft, and robbery cases. Rajesh, a history-sheeter at the Virugambakkam Police Station, is facing around nine criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, theft, and robbery charges. Another accused, Easwaran, was also found to have three criminal cases pending against him.
