Honour for Chemistry Professor

M. Murali, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry at National College, Tiruchi, has been awarded the Chartered Chemist (CChem) designation by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), United Kingdom. CChem is a professional recognition that the RSC awards to experienced chemical scientists who demonstrate advanced technical expertise, professional competence, integrity, and a sustained commitment to continuing professional development. Earlier this year, Dr. Murali was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). K. Raghunathan, Secretary of college felicitated Dr. Murali.

Convocation

Jinnah Rafiq Ahmed, Executive Chairman and Managing Director, Kothari Industrial Corporation Ltd., Chennai, conferred the degrees on graduands during the Graduation Day of M.A.M. College of Engineering. K. Sivan, former Secretary, Department of Space, and former Chairman, ISRO, was present. M. A. Mohammed Nizam, Executive Chairman of the college, spoke. A total of 390 students from the 2021–2025 batch engineering programmes received their degree certificates.

Pharmacists’ Day

Periyar College of Pharmaceutical Sciences celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2026 to highlight the role of pharmacists in promoting healthcare and raise awareness on the theme, “Empowering pharmacists for a healthier future.” Students and faculty members took the Pharmacist Oath, reaffirming their commitment to uphold professional ethics, serve society, ensure the safe and rational use of medicines, and contribute to better health outcomes. A tree plantation programme was organised on the campus.

Discussion on book

Shrimati Indira Gandhi College organised a introductory meet on the book, Vellotam Vellatum, authored by V. Dillibabu, senior scientist, Defence Research and Development Organisation. Dr. Dillibabu elaborated on India’s progress in jet-engine research and that the book would serve as a guide for students in shaping their professional aspirations. He emphasised the importance of communicating scientific knowledge through Tamil and encouraged students to cultivate scientific temper and pursue their aspirations with determination. K. Chandrasekharan, Chief Executive Officer of the college, spoke.

Conference on nanomaterial

Various aspects of nanoscience, nanodevices, and their practical applications in modern technology and scientific research were the focus of discussions at an international conference on AI-Driven Nanomaterials and Devices organised by Cauvery College for Women, in association with Bodhi Multiverse and Nunnarivu, United Kingdom. The conference was organised with the objective of raising awareness among faculty, research scholars, and students about the rapidly emerging fields of AI in nanomaterials research, nanomaterials, and nano-devices, applications of nanomaterials in healthcare, energy, electronics, and environment to encourage young researchers and students in the emerging technologies. Various competitions, including Poster Presentation, were organised.

Faculty development

Artificial intelligence for multidisciplinary research, innovation and academic excellence was the focus of a week long faculty development programme organised by the Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. The programme brought together academicians and professionals from diverse disciplines to explore the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in higher education, teaching, learning, research, innovation, science, technology, healthcare, humanities, and interdisciplinary academic practices.

Meet on cleanliness

As part of the nationwide Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign 2026, the Student Council of Bishop Heber College, Tiruchi, hosted a panel discussion on the theme “Synergy for swachhta,” featuring students from Bishop Heber College and Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli. Over 250 students participated in the dialogue evaluating the responsibilities of citizens, government, and corporate entities in driving a sustainable and clean India. Later, the students took the “Swachhta Hi Seva Pledge”.

Technical symposium

Over 1,000 students from various college participated in a national-level technical symposium, TechnothirsT’26 hosted by A.V.C. College of Engineering, Mayiladuthurai. Students from various disciplines, including Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Business Administration, Computer Applications, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information Technology, and Instrumentation and Control Engineering, participated in the symposium. The event, featuring paper presentations and technical events, was inaugurated by the college Director M. Senthilmurugan.

Gandhi Jayanthi

The Department of English, J.J. College of Arts and Science, Pudukkottai, commemorated Gandhi Jayanthi by organising an “The Mahatma” through its English Literary Association. The programme was organised to highlight the life, principles, and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and to encourage students to reflect upon his enduring relevance. Students made presentations on Gandhi’s ideals from different perspectives.

The college organised a programme, including an electronic poster exhibition on “Rabies awareness: Breaking the chain of zoonotic infections”. Faculty members spoke on the threat posed by rabies.
