Tiruchi Corporation has raised ₹100 crore through municipal bonds for the construction of an integrated vegetable and fruit market complex at Panjapur on the Tiruchi–Madurai National Highway.
According to an official release, the market is being developed on 22.10 acres in Green Park area. The foundation stone for the project was laid by the Chief Minister in May 2025. The facility is being implemented at an estimated cost of ₹236 crore. Of this, ₹120 crore has been sanctioned under the Infrastructure and Amenities (I&A) Fund while ₹8 crore each has been allocated from the Capital Grant Fund 2025-26 and the Corporation Fund 2025-26. The remaining ₹100 crore has been mobilised through the issuance of municipal bonds.
As part of efforts to raise funds, the Corporation floated municipal bonds through the Bombay Stock Exchange. In the auction held on Thursday, three firms participated, and the entire ₹100 crore was secured.
Corporation Commissioner L. Madhubalan said that with the funds now in place, steps were being taken to expedite the execution of the project and ensure its timely completion.
